…then call us immediately.
We offer same-day appointments whenever possible for urgent cases. Our team will triage your situation over the phone and advise you on steps to manage pain in the meantime. Because we work closely with many general dentists in Tampa, if you’re referred to us for an emergency root canal, we’ll coordinate to see you ASAP, and often that very day. Even if you’re not a current patient, we welcome you in an emergency. Tooth pain is not something you should have to endure, and timely treatment prevents complications.
Severe tooth pain can be extremley overwhelming. It’s hard to work, sleep, or think straight when a tooth is throbbing. Dental emergencies can strike at any time. We understand when you’re in agony, you need prompt, effective relief. That’s why we make emergency endodontic care a priority. As root canal specialists, we are uniquely qualified to handle urgent problems involving the tooth pulp (nerve), root infections, and sudden damage.
Common Emergencies We Treat
As endodontists, the most frequent emergencies we handle include:
Acute Tooth Abscess: This is an infection at a tooth’s root that can cause sharp or throbbing pain, swelling in the gum or face, a bad taste (if pus is draining), and sometimes fever.
Irreversible Pulpitis: This is inflammation of the tooth nerve, typically causing severe sensitivity or pain (especially to hot temperatures) that lingers for minutes.
Cracked Tooth Pain: A deep crack can irritate the pulp and cause biting pain or sporadic sharp pains. I
Traumatic Dental Injuries: If you’ve had an accident; a sports injury or fall and a tooth is chipped, dislodged, or completely knocked out, prompt endodontic treatment can often save it.
No matter the emergency, our office is equipped to diagnose the issue with digital X-rays or CBCT scans on the spot and to provide needed treatment same-day in most instances. Our goal is to get you out of pain on that very visit. Even if full treatment can’t be finished in one go (rare, but sometimes swelling needs to drain over a couple of visits), we will alleviate your discomfort, secure the situation, and provide next steps to ensure proper treatment.
Our Approach is Compassion and Speed
Dental emergencies are stressful, we provide efficient care with a compassionate touch. When you arrive, we know you might be in a lot of pain or anxious. You’ll be taken to a treatment room promptly, where our assistant and Dr. Hamad will evaluate you right away. If needed, we administer an anesthetic to numb the area.
Dr. Hamad will explain in simple terms what is happening with your tooth and proposed treatment. For traumatic injuries, we’ll gently handle the tooth and surrounding tissues, and provide appropriate care. We keep in communication with any other providers (e.g., your general dentist, an oral surgeon if needed, etc.) to ensure you receive comprehensive care
